On the 17th April 1970, after a treacherous mission, where the space craft malfunctioned due to the No. 2 oxygen tank blowing, Apollo 13 safely arrived back to earth.
On this day in 1894, Communist leader Khrushchev was born.

This day in history: Harriet Quimby flew over the English Channel on 16th April 1912.
She made history by being the first woman to make the trip, having been the first woman to receive a US pilot license. She died later the same year.

On this day in 1912, the Titanic sank. They believed that the ship was unsinkable – how mistaken they were. On its maiden voyage it hit an ice burg on 14th April 1912 and sank in the early hours of the morning of 15th April. 1500 people died in the accident.
